The Company Started in a Basement

Many company stories began in the 1970s, 80s and 90s in a garage or basement. Mostly young people with good and innovative ideas tinkered away, alone or together with others, to bring their ideas to life. What basements and garages were for young entrepreneurs back then is now the loft for start-ups.

Vita Natura founder Oliver-Christian Meuren also started his company in the late 1990s in the basement of his parents' house. "I still remember exactly how we started with online retail in my parents' basement back then," Oliver recalls. And success came quickly. As early as 2001, Oliver-Christian Meuren's shop received an award from the (then popular) online magazine "Tomorrow" as one of the 100 best online shops.

The First Product Is Developed – Stevia

In 2003, the company took the step of developing its own products – liquid stevia sweetener was launched, and just one year later, Vita Natura moved to Andernach into an old manor house. Here, they had significantly more space, and the expansion of the business could proceed.

Vita Natura became a wholesaler and manufacturer of products under its own label. Since then, the company has continued to grow. Since 2006, the products have also been distributed through pharmacies.

Passion for Nature as Motivation

The motivation that has always driven Oliver-Christian Meuren is his unwavering belief in the power of nature. As someone deeply connected to nature, his interest in plants and herbs has been with him since his youth.

The ancient wisdom about health and healing from nature, as found in the works of Hildegard von Bingen, Maria Treben and Sebastian Kneipp, fascinates him and continually inspires him to discover new things. His team is also passionate about natural products and shares his love of nature. Thus, it is almost a given that they work with great enthusiasm every day.

Vita Natura is now back in Bonn, the founder's hometown. The entire Vita Natura product range is produced here. Oliver-Christian Meuren places particular importance on manufacturing his products in-house.
